Accountant - grant and fund accounting (San Jose, CA)

Amberfield Ember Insurance is an insurance company in San Jose with claims and service teams, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. You would join a small organisation of about 77 people based in San Jose. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around underwriting files against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to catastrophe response, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with catastrophe response. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in San Jose. • We reply to every applicant.
