Accountant - grant and fund accounting (San Jose, CA)

We are growing our team at Greenridge Wilder Learning Group and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be grant and fund accounting. You would join a small organisation of about 146 people based in San Jose. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around enrolment against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with learning materials. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in San Jose, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
