Accountant - grant and fund accounting (San Diego, CA)

Highbridge Oak Inspection Services Group provides independent inspection and testing for industry across San Diego. We are hiring an Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. You would join a small organisation of about 136 people based in San Diego. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to certifications, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in San Diego. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
