Accountant - grant and fund accounting (San Antonio, TX)

Redstone Vale Water Authority Group supplies drinking water and treats wastewater for San Antonio and nearby communities, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. Our work is invisible when it goes well, and we are proud of that. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around treatment plant data against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to capital projects, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with capital projects. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in San Antonio. • We reply to every applicant.
