Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Salt Lake City, UT)

Harborlight Civic Services supports public agencies in Salt Lake City with budgeting, records and programmes, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Salt Lake City. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to budget submissions, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around procurement against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with budget submissions. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • On site in Salt Lake City, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
