Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Richmond, VA)

Amberfield Thistle Pharma is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for quality documentation, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. People move between science and operations roles. What you will do • Track costs around cleanroom operations against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to quality documentation, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with quality documentation. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Richmond. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
