Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Reno, NV)

Redstone Keystone Energy supplies electricity and gas to homes and businesses around Reno. We are hiring an Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. Reliability is the job, and people here take pride in answering the phone at 3 a.m. when needed. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to outage response, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements.
