Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Reno, NV)

Harborlight Timber Early Learning Group runs childcare centres in Reno caring for infants, toddlers and preschoolers, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. You would join a small organisation of about 122 people based in Reno. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to tuition and subsidies, and clear open items. • Track costs around family communication against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with tuition and subsidies.
