Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Harborlight Keystone Transit Planning plans bus and rail service for cities around Oakland, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to fare systems, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with fare systems. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Oakland. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
