Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Rivermark Fox Insurance is an insurance company in Providence with claims and service teams, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. We invest in training for new adjusters. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around customer complaints against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to catastrophe response, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with catastrophe response. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Providence. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
