Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Harborlight Basin Care Services is a social-care provider serving older adults and people with disabilities around Houston, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. We train and promote from within. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to visit scheduling, and clear open items. • Track costs around caregiver training against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements.
