Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Harborlight Corner Water Authority supplies drinking water and treats wastewater for Savannah and nearby communities, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. Safety and public health guide our decisions. What you will do • Track costs around water quality against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to treatment plant data, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, mornings. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Savannah. • We reply to every applicant.
