Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Cedar North Insurance provides coverage to households and businesses around Seattle, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. We care about how people feel on the worst day of their year. What you will do • Track costs around underwriting files against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • Remote-friendly, with quarterly visits in Seattle. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
