Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Highbridge Stone Freight Group coordinates shipments and warehousing around Albuquerque. We are hiring an Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. Dispatch, drivers and warehouse staff talk to each other constantly. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around loads and lanes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to dock schedules, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • Remote-friendly, with quarterly visits in Albuquerque. • We reply to every applicant.
