Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Bluepeak Fern Transit Planning helps transport agencies around Buffalo design routes and schedules, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. Work is collaborative and map-heavy. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around fare systems against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to ridership counts, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with ridership counts. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, afternoons. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Buffalo. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
