Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Foxglove Vista Water Authority is a public water utility serving the Chicago area, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. Safety and public health guide our decisions. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, afternoons. • Fully remote, with a monthly team day in Chicago. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
