Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Bright Vale Markets is a Wichita retailer with stores, a distribution centre and online ordering, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. Managers started on the floor. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to online orders, and clear open items. • Track costs around pricing against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with online orders. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, afternoons. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Wichita. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
