Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Westbrook Fern Transit Planning Group · Remote · part time

Westbrook Fern Transit Planning Group is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for ridership counts, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. We value plain explanations. What you will do • Track costs around route schedules against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to ridership counts, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, with flexible days. • Fully remote, with a monthly team day in Miami. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
