Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Northwind Cobalt Construction is a Las Vegas contractor with project managers, trades and support staff, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to permits, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around subcontractor invoices against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with permits. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • Fully remote, with quarterly visits in Las Vegas. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
