Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Northwind Ember Press · Remote · part time

Northwind Ember Press is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for customer orders, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 12 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to customer orders, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around bindery work against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, mornings. • Remote-friendly, with an occasional day on site in Houston. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
