Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Amberfield Lakeside Environmental Services is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for landfill records, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Track costs around collection routes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to landfill records, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with landfill records. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Kansas City. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
