Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Lumen Quarry Transit Planning Group plans bus and rail service for cities around Philadelphia. We are hiring an Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. You would join a small organisation of about 14 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to service alerts, and clear open items. • Track costs around survey data against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with service alerts. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • Fully remote, with an occasional day on site in Philadelphia. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
