Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Fernwood Staffing is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for candidate screening, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. What you will do • Track costs around retention against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to candidate screening, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Columbus. • We reply to every applicant.
