Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

We are growing our team at Harborlight Ridge Early Learning and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be grant and fund accounting. Low staff turnover is a goal we take seriously. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around family communication against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with tuition and subsidies. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Oakland. • We reply to every applicant.
