Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Foxglove Clear Farms is an agricultural business based around Des Moines, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to cold storage, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around packing house output against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with cold storage. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • Remote-friendly, with quarterly visits in Des Moines. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
