Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Bright Pike Early Learning Group is an early-learning provider in San Jose, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. You would join a small organisation of about 39 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around enrolment against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with family communication. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • Fully remote, with an occasional day on site in San Jose. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
