Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

We are growing our team at Ironwood Umber Inspection Services and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be grant and fund accounting. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to equipment calibration, and clear open items. • Track costs around certifications against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with equipment calibration. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • Remote-friendly, with quarterly visits in Fort Worth. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
