Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Bright Kestrel Early Learning · Remote · contract

We are growing our team at Bright Kestrel Early Learning and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be grant and fund accounting. Children come first and so does looking after the teachers. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to licensing records, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with licensing records. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Wichita. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
