Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Bright Orchard Freight Group is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for carrier rates, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. On-time is the promise and we work hard to keep it. What you will do • Track costs around dock schedules against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to carrier rates, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with carrier rates. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, spread across three days. • Fully remote, with a monthly team day in Virginia Beach. • We reply to every applicant.
