Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Bright Birch Environmental Services serves homes and businesses with collection and disposal in Salt Lake City. We are hiring an Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Track costs around collection routes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to weigh tickets, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with weigh tickets. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, spread across three days. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Salt Lake City. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
