Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Cedar Summit Insurance Group is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for underwriting files, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to underwriting files, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with underwriting files. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, mornings. • Fully remote, with an occasional day on site in Charlotte. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
