Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Ironwood Quarry Care Services is a social-care provider serving older adults and people with disabilities around Grand Rapids. We are hiring an Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. We train and promote from within. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to family communication, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with family communication. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • Remote-friendly, with an occasional day on site in Grand Rapids. • We reply to every applicant.
