Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Providence, RI)

We are growing our team at Foxglove Timber Insurance Group and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be grant and fund accounting. Claims teams work together and share what they learn. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to underwriting files, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with underwriting files. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Providence, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
