Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Providence, RI)

Ironwood Bright Water Authority Group is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for billing accounts, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. Crews and office staff work closely together. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to billing accounts, and clear open items. • Track costs around water quality against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with billing accounts. • Familiarity with audit requirements.
