Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Providence, RI)

Harborlight Summit Insurance provides coverage to households and businesses around Providence, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. We invest in training for new adjusters. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to catastrophe response, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around claims against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with catastrophe response. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • On site in Providence. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
