Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Providence, RI)

Ironwood Amber Insurance is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for claims, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 29 people based in Providence. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around policy renewals against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with claims. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • On site in Providence, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
