Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Providence, RI)

Northwind Cross Foods is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for cold storage, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a large organisation of about 936 people based in Providence. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to cold storage, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Providence, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
