Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Portland, OR)

Fernwood Granite Staffing Group places workers with employers around Portland, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. We are in the people business and act like it. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around onboarding against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to retention, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • On site in Portland, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
