Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Portland, OR)

Redstone West Energy supplies electricity and gas to homes and businesses around Portland, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around billing disputes against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with service connections. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Portland, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
