Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Oakland, CA)

Summit Ashton Environmental Services is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for service complaints, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Oakland. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around fleet maintenance against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with service complaints. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Oakland, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
