Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Oakland, CA)

Westbrook Mill Environmental Services Associates is an environmental-services company in Oakland with routes, transfer stations and recycling. We are hiring an Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. Early starts and steady work; we look after our drivers. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to fleet maintenance, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with fleet maintenance. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Oakland, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
