Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Oakland, CA)

Greenridge Oak Environmental Services serves homes and businesses with collection and disposal in Oakland. We are hiring an Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around recycling loads against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to collection routes, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with collection routes. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • On site in Oakland. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
