Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Oakland, CA)

Ironwood Meridian Legal Group is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for document review, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 36 people based in Oakland. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around court deadlines against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with document review. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Oakland, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
