Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Oakland, CA)

Westbrook Corner Markets is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for store inventory, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. Managers started on the floor. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to store inventory, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around supplier deliveries against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements.
