Accountant - grant and fund accounting (New Orleans, LA)

Westbrook Glen Care Services provides in-home and community support in New Orleans. We are hiring an Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. The work is personal and so is the culture. What you will do • Track costs around client records against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to licensing, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with licensing. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, mornings. • On site in New Orleans. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
