Accountant - grant and fund accounting (New Orleans, LA)

Fernwood Beacon Staffing Group connects candidates and employers across the New Orleans region. We are hiring an Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to candidate screening, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around temp assignments against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with candidate screening. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in New Orleans. • We reply to every applicant.
