Accountant - grant and fund accounting (New Orleans, LA)

Northwind Ember Early Learning operates neighbourhood childcare around New Orleans. We are hiring an Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. You would join a small organisation of about 79 people based in New Orleans. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to meal programmes, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around tuition and subsidies against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with meal programmes. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in New Orleans. • We reply to every applicant.
