Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Nashville, TN)

We are growing our team at Harborlight Sable Housing and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be grant and fund accounting. We value patience and follow-through. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to lease compliance, and clear open items. • Track costs around rent assistance against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with lease compliance. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Nashville. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
