Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Minneapolis, MN)

Westbrook Ember Markets operates grocery and general-merchandise stores around Minneapolis, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. We are friendly and busy, especially on weekends. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to online orders, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Minneapolis. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
