Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Minneapolis, MN)

Silverline Willow Insurance Group sells home, auto and small-business insurance in Minneapolis, and we need an Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around policy renewals against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Minneapolis. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
